Class-II Div. 1 malocclusion

A 9 year old child has Class-II Div. 1 malocclusion. What will be the treatment option? 
A. Face Mask Therapy 
B. Reverse Twin Block 
C. High Pull Head Gear 
D. Chin Cap Therapy


Ans. (C) 
For Option (A)- Face Mask- Head gears are generally used for the purpose of reinforcement of anchorage or for maxillary distatization. However, when an anterior protractory force is required, a protraction head gear is used. Facial mask therapy has gained popularity.        

For Option (B)- Reverse Twin Block- The normal twin block appliance is used for correction of Class II malocclusion, Reverse twin block on the other hand is used to correct Class III.
For Option (C)- Head Gear- Distalization Of Molars- Distal movements of upper molars may be required for correction of molar relation or to gain space for correction of crowding or retraction of anteriors.

For Option (D)- Chin Cap- The chin cup or chin cap as it sometimes referred to is an extra-oral orthopedic device that covers chin and is connected to a head gear. It IS used to restrict the forward and downward growth of mandible .
